Never forget the Armed Forces Day
ARMED Forces Day will be held on Saturday, June 27 at the Aylesbury Rugby Club.
We must never forget the achievements and sacrifices made by servicemen and women, their families and those veterans whose bravery has secured our freedom in some of the most dangerous and challenging conditions.
The many events taking place on Saturday, June 27 – not just here at Weston Turville or at the national event at Guildford – demonstrate the enthusiasm the British public has shown for Armed Forces Day since it was introduced in 2009.
It is important for us all to know that our Armed Forces are at the heart of national life and that they enjoy the respect and appreciation of the people they serve.
This year’s event promises to be better than ever. We have a fantastic air show, which is always a highlight, and includes flypasts by P51 Mustang, Spitfire and Hurricane to name a few.
There will be some great musical performances on the day from The Memphis Belles, The Army Air Corps Band and SkaSouls UK. And not forgetting activities for all the family including a WW1 Village, fun fair, hot air balloon and zip wire.
There are still plenty of volunteering opportunities available.
Without the support of volunteers we simply would not have an event. So if you have a few hours to spare, please sign up on our webpage www. buckscc.gov.uk/ armed forces volunteers
We are encouraging people to car share wherever possible due to the limited number of parking spaces available at the venue.
Alternatively, there will be a free Arriva shuttle bus service from Aylesbury Bus Station to the event. For further information, or to purchase tickets, please visit www. buckscc.gov.uk/armedforcesday.
So whether you choose to be a volunteer, or simply want to come and relax and enjoy the day with your friends and family, I urge local people to make a date to come to Armed Forces Day and enjoy what promises to be a great day of pride and fun.
