Well done to our Otter pool stars
I AM writing to personally congratulate a number of our Chalfont Otters swimmers who qualified for the South East Regional Swimming Championships, which took place over three weekends last month in Crawley and Portsmouth.
The regionals are the next step up the competitive ladder from the counties and one step below the nationals.
I am particularly proud as this year we had the highest number of Otters swimmers to ever qualify for the regionals. Twelve swimmers – a fantastic achievement.
I would like to especially congratulate the following swimmers.
James McClenn, who gained a silver medal in the 50metre backstroke (bk) and a bronze in the 100m bk.
Sam Phippen won a silver medal in the 100m front crawl (fc) and bronze in 50m bk.
Ten of our swimmers also made it to the finals, including: James McClenn (200m bk-6th/50m fc 8th/200m fc 8th), Sam Clarke (200m IM 6th/50m bk 5th/200m bk/100m bk 4th), Charley Huggett (50m butterfly 6th)
Long course personal bests came from: Hugo Lane (50m bk), Zebina George (100m fc/200m br/100m bk), Jamie Aldred, Sadie Lucus, Daniella Hoyland, Luke Molonley and Angus Guironnet.
The majority of all these swimmers have beaten the current club long course records by a significant margin.
Finally, I am delighted to announce that Sam Phippen and James McClenn have also qualified to swim at the Nationals Championships in Sheffield in August 2015.
Continue to train hard and well done all!
