Mark your bikes to stop thefts

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

TWO district councils are encouraging people to property mark their bikes to reduce the risk of theft.

Chiltern and South Bucks district councils say the sticker, which is stuck to the inside of your bike frame and includes your postcode, allows police to easily identify who the bike belongs to if it gets stolen.

They also recommend keeping your bike in a locked garage or shed, using a strong lock and securing it to a bike rack where possible, leaving your bike an open space where it can be seen, recording and registering it on www.immobilise.com and investing in an electronic tagging system.

Bikes can be marked at Cycle Tech, in Rignall Road, Great Missenden; CycleFleet, in Rookwood, Great Missenden; and Chiltern Bike Barn, in Market Place, Chalfont St Peter.

Contact 01494 586 535 or communitysafety@ chiltern.gov.uk to apply for your free sticker.
