New­com­ers en­joy Great Bri­tish Ten­nis week­end

MORE than 40 play­ers – most of whom had never been to the club be­fore – en­joyed Ger­rards Cross Lawn Ten­nis Club’s Open Day on Sun­day.

Held as part of the Great Bri­tish Ten­nis week­end, the event saw 12 adults re­ceive free coach­ing from Ten­nace coach Alex Allen on the brand new syn­thetic clay courts, while other adults had free play on the other sur­faces.

The mini ten­nis (seven and un­der) play­ers ben­e­fited from free coach­ing from Ten­nace coach Peter Bres­nen, while other chil­dren were or­gan­ised on the grass courts by head pro Andy Scholfield, who or­gan­ised the whole day.

The next event is an open dou­bles tour­na­ment this Sun­day, from 2pm, for mem­bers, friends and visi­tors aged 14 and over.
