ASTALL attracted crowds to watch demonstrations of knitting and sewing machines.

Workaid volunteers showcased a range of activities at Amersham Rotary Day. The charity, which is based in Chesham, tackles poverty by providing disadvantaged people with the tools they need to learn a skilled trade and earn a living.

Amersham Rotary Club member, Peter Mcloughlin, said: "With knitted teddies and other craft works the Workaid stall attracted crowds to watch demonstrations of knitting machines and a vintage sewing machine. Sales of haberdashery items, plants and tools raised over £600.

Workaid is still in need of volunteers in all areas of its work and anyone with an interest should call General Manager John Fox on 01494 775 220.
