Knud­sen’s seam bowl­ing clinches win

HOME COUN­TIES PREMIER LEAGUE DI­VI­SION TWO Datchet 138ao Ger­rards Cross 141-3 Ger­rards Cross won by seven wick­ets A SU­PERB spell of seam bowl­ing from Richard Knud­sen and half cen­turies from AJ Wood­land and James Crosth­waite en­sured a com­pre­hen­sive seven-wicket win over Datchet for Ger­rards Cross on Satur­day.

Af­ter be­ing asked to bat, Datchet raced out of the blocks, reach­ing 84-1 af­ter 15 overs be­fore rain brought a halt to pro­ceed­ings.

On re­sump­tion, Knud­sen ex­tracted some ex­tra bounce and dec­i­mated the Datchet bat­ting, tak­ing 6-30 in 12.4 overs, while Joe Bracey pro­vided ex­cel­lent sup­port, tak­ing 3-33 as Datchet col­lapsed to 138 all out.

Wood­land and Crosth­waite then shared a 90-run stand in 15 overs, which ended Datchet’s hopes of vic­tory.

Crosth­waite scored 71 off 48 balls, with 10 fours and three sixes, while Wood­land fin­ished un­beaten on 54 off 68 balls, with eight fours, as the Cross cruised to vic­tory with 37 overs to spare.

How­ever, they will be ex­pect­ing a tougher match this week­end when they travel to league lead­ers Great & Lit­tle Tew.
