Police investigate fatal collision
AN ELDERLY motorcyclist was killed in a road accident on Sunday (June 21) following a collision with a car.
The incident happened just before noon on the A413 Amersham Road, between Chalfont St Peter and Chalfont St Giles. The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 70s, died at the scene after his blue Honda motorbike was in collision with a white Ford Fiesta.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to call 101 and speak to PC James Lovell from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Three Mile Cross.
They are particularly keen to speak to a cyclist who may have information that could help police with their investigation. On Tuesday a solitary bouquet of flowers had been placed at the scene. As the Bucks Advertiser went to press, the motorcyclist had not been identified.
A Transport for Bucks spokesman said the area where the accident occurred was not known to be an accident blackspot.
The spokesman said: “Transport for Buckinghamshire does not currently have any plans to carry out work on this stretch of road. There were no reported injury collisions in the last five years within 150m in either direction of the recent fatality. A site visit with Thames Valley Police is due to be carried out with a view to determining whether the highway environment was in any way contributory to the collision.
“However, it is important that we await the results of the full police investigation, to establish what factors may have been involved, before we consider what long term engineering measures, if any, need to be taken.”
