Golf-a-thon brings in char­ity funds

PLENTY of birdies and a cou­ple of ea­gles – no, this isn’t about a zoo but four men play­ing more than 15 hours of golf for char­ity.

Paul Free­man, Liam Cross, Kevin Wood­ley and Tim Tal­bot, from Chal­font St Giles, raised more than £2,000 for Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port af­ter tee­ing off at 4am on Sun­day (June 21) be­fore play­ing their last hole at 9pm.

Mr Free­man said: “Liam, Kevin and Tim were all great com­pany and we helped each other though the last round when the tired­ness and aching joints were start­ing to get to us”

He added: “An ex­tra con­grat­u­la­tions to Tim who’s wife Amy gave birth to a beau­ti­ful baby girl only a few days be­fore the chal­lenge and I know it was hard for him to be away from them both for the whole day.”
