Stunning floral display to celebrate church centenary
A CHURCH lay down a carpet of flowers to celebrate a century since the opening of the building.
Our Lady’s Catholic Church, Amersham Road, Chesham Bois is celebrating 100 years since the opening of its church building.
To mark the ancient Catholic festival of Corpus Christi, the parish held two processions.
At the first, more than 200 children from Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School sang, played percussion instruments, scattered flower petals and waved streamers.
At the second, the parishioners laid down a carpet of flowers in the church.
Priest Andy Ollard said: “The design was created by flower arranger Marcia Cantrell, it took Marcia and her team of helpers seven hours to layout the stunning display of flower heads.”
The church’s centenary celebrations will continue during the summer, culminating with a visit by Bishop Peter Doyle, Bishop of Northampton, at the end of July.
