Broad­way pair pre­vail

BROAD­WAY bowls cap­tain Colin Webb and Billy McGowan a re­sound­ing win by 10 shots in the county pairs this week, knock­ing out a Chess­vale duo 19-9.

Webb did not have it all his own way, how­ever, los­ing by six shots in the county sin­gles to an op­po­nent from High Wy­combe, while in the county triples, Lewis Fletcher, Derek May and John Wood­stock lost to a trio from Che­sham.

Fletcher also played in the County Ex­ec­u­tive match at Ol­ney and was part of the high­est win­ning rink, while Linda Richards was part of the Bucks County Ladies team, who played Es­sex, and Angie Pea­cock has been in­vited to play in the Johns Tro­phy Team against Kent.

Pea­cock, Richards and Ian Har­vey saw off a Fass­nidge trio to progress in the open triples com­pe­ti­tion, but Broad­way lost by five shots at Hemel Hemp­stead in another triples com­pe­ti­tion, de­spite a high­est win­ning rink from Jackie Pledge, Allan Seabrook and Ge­orge Pledge.

In the Chiltern & Thames League, Broad­way beat Che­sham Park 55-49 but lost 47-41 to Chal­font St Giles, with the high­est win­ning rink each time be­ing Richards, Har­vey and Arthur Hatch­ett.
