Broadway pair prevail
BROADWAY bowls captain Colin Webb and Billy McGowan a resounding win by 10 shots in the county pairs this week, knocking out a Chessvale duo 19-9.
Webb did not have it all his own way, however, losing by six shots in the county singles to an opponent from High Wycombe, while in the county triples, Lewis Fletcher, Derek May and John Woodstock lost to a trio from Chesham.
Fletcher also played in the County Executive match at Olney and was part of the highest winning rink, while Linda Richards was part of the Bucks County Ladies team, who played Essex, and Angie Peacock has been invited to play in the Johns Trophy Team against Kent.
Peacock, Richards and Ian Harvey saw off a Fassnidge trio to progress in the open triples competition, but Broadway lost by five shots at Hemel Hempstead in another triples competition, despite a highest winning rink from Jackie Pledge, Allan Seabrook and George Pledge.
In the Chiltern & Thames League, Broadway beat Chesham Park 55-49 but lost 47-41 to Chalfont St Giles, with the highest winning rink each time being Richards, Harvey and Arthur Hatchett.
