Wilson’s winning return
NORMAN Wilson made a winning return with Amersham Bowls Club following knee operations which kept him sidelined for the majority of last season.
Complete with two new knees, Wilson was part of a 28-8 winning rink, along with John Culley and Ray Cox, against Chessvale in the Bucks Cup, but unfortunately Amersham lost three rinks to one overall.
The men also lost 93-53 to High Wycombe in the same competition, bringing their Bucks Cup journey to an end for this year, while there were home and away losses, and an overall 58-17 defeat, to Chesham in the Vi Trundell.
However, Chalfont St Giles were beaten 100-82 in the Three Counties League, with Jean Oldfield, Colin Wills, Diana Bassett and David Balderson bowling the top rink, while Flackwell Heath were seen off 55-45 in a friendly by the ladies, with Linda English, Marian Hext and Joy Spicer bagging the best rink.
Amersham also did the double over Loudwater on the same afternoon, beating them 53-47 in a Chiltern & Thames League clash and 56-34 in a friendly.
