Wil­son’s win­ning re­turn

NOR­MAN Wil­son made a win­ning re­turn with Amer­sham Bowls Club fol­low­ing knee oper­a­tions which kept him side­lined for the ma­jor­ity of last sea­son.

Com­plete with two new knees, Wil­son was part of a 28-8 win­ning rink, along with John Cul­ley and Ray Cox, against Chess­vale in the Bucks Cup, but un­for­tu­nately Amer­sham lost three rinks to one over­all.

The men also lost 93-53 to High Wy­combe in the same com­pe­ti­tion, bring­ing their Bucks Cup jour­ney to an end for this year, while there were home and away losses, and an over­all 58-17 de­feat, to Che­sham in the Vi Trun­dell.

How­ever, Chal­font St Giles were beaten 100-82 in the Three Coun­ties League, with Jean Oldfield, Colin Wills, Diana Bas­sett and David Balder­son bowl­ing the top rink, while Flack­well Heath were seen off 55-45 in a friendly by the ladies, with Linda English, Mar­ian Hext and Joy Spicer bag­ging the best rink.

Amer­sham also did the dou­ble over Loud­wa­ter on the same af­ter­noon, beat­ing them 53-47 in a Chiltern & Thames League clash and 56-34 in a friendly.
