Get your running shoes on to raise money for hospice

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - COMMUNITY -

SOUTH Bucks Hospice is appealing to the wonderful Buckinghamshire community to don lycra, lace up running shoes and take on a challenge this summer in support of the hospice.

As the warm weather draws in – or occasionally draws in, followed by the inevitable hailstone and rainforestworthy downpours – we are noticing more and more people running and cycling past our hospice and we would be delighted if the fitness fanatic within our supporters would enter one of the many fantastic challenge events planned in Buckinghamshire across the summer.

There is something going on for everyone over the next few months so whether people are already juicing greens for breakfast and run 10k a day or their idea of being active is walking to their local for a Pimm’s in the sun, we’d love to have fundraisers on board Team South Bucks Hospice, getting sponsored to take part in a challenge.

As well

as

those

wanting

to

challenge themselves physically by entering a marathon or triathlon, we have seen some take on personal challenges alone.

This year, a wonderful gentleman known as Pirate will be doing his own sponsored slim. His hopes? To lose more than seven stone and raise vital funds in support of our hospice.

Pirate works at our South Bucks Hospice ReUse centre in Booker, and is calling for people to join him in his sponsored slim and shed the pounds in aid of the hospice.

Pirate said: “I started a Slimming World programme a month ago and have already lost a stone, so if I can do it, anyone can!

“It’d be great to see the community come together and join me in my challenge.”

Anyone who would like more information on taking part in a local challenge event or joining Pirate in his sponsored slim, can contact Rose Finnigan on 01494 464045 or email Rose. Finnigan@sbhospice.org.uk.
