CHILTERNS CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION FOUR Amersham Hill IIs 214 all out Denham IIs 218-6 AMERSHAM Hill seconds skipper Sam Bugden returned from holiday in the West Indies in the early hours of Saturday and scored his first ever 50 a few hours later – but it was not enough to halt his side’s losing run.
Having won the toss and opted to bat, they were soon in trouble at 38-4, until a fine innings of 75 from Bugden and 33 from Luke Saunders helped Hill reach 214 all out in the 50th over.
But it was to be a tale of dropped catches as Denham’s Ambrose Treacy was dropped on no less than four occasions, as he scored the match winning innings of 123 not out.
He was supported by Colin Tobin (50), as Denham won with overs to spare to go top of the table, with previous leaders Winchmore Hill not in action.
Struggling The Lee lost by four wickets to Chalfont St Giles seconds in Division Three, while Coleshill beat Wraysbury seconds by the same margin in Division Two and Hill’s first team beat Hurley by two wickets.
Division One leaders Penn & Tylers Green hammered title rivals Binfield by 120 runs while Chalfont St Giles drew with Holyport, but Denham firsts and Great Kingshill both lost by four wickets, to Taplow and Wraysbury respectively.
