The sun finally shows its face for Denham Village school fete
AN annual school summer fete was blessed by sun for the first time in its four year history and managed to raise £800.
The Denham Village Infant School, on Cheapside Lane, held the annual event in the school grounds on Saturday from noon until 3pm. Wendy Cope, chairman of Friends of Denham Village Infant School (FODVIS), was “gobsmacked” with the amount that was raised, because “for such a small school, that’s amazing”.
Despite it being the fourth summer fete she has organised, it was the first time it didn’t rain.
She said: “It was the first summer one it hasn’t rained. The man with the bouncy castle said he was prepared for the indoors.”
For Miss Cope the day is solely about the children. She said: “It was a lovely day. It was really nice to see the bairns enjoying themselves.” She added: “It was all about them. For me it’s always been about the children and as long as they enjoy themselves that’s all that matters.
