Chesham duo qualify

CHESHAM Bowls Club duo Sue Faulks and Avril Harland will represents Bucks in the National Championships at Leamington after winning through to the county finals.
Harland reached the singles final after knocking out Angela Atkinson of Princes Risborough 21-8 and Julie Skerry of Burnham 21-16, while 15-12 wins over both Gina Doddington of Stoney Stratford and Mary Price of Burnham saw Faulks through to the two-wood singles final.
In the men’s county competitions, Nathan Harvey came from behind to knock out his father Chris 21-20 and reach the quarter-finals of the singles, while two Chesham triples are through to the quarters after both beating fellow Chesham trios.
Michael Nash, Brian Wright and Nathan Harvey won 16-14 against Howard Cave, Ray Keen and Keith Patrick, while Roy Rodgers, Roger Elliston and Chris Harvey beat Ashley Ware, Diet Townend and Frank McCartney 20-4.
In the Burnham Plate, Pam Hooper, Helen Fillery, Jackie Bateman and Fay Holmes won to see off Broadway 44-10, while there was a win on all four rinks as Bovingdon were downed 132-40 in a friendly, the best rink going to Dave Hobbs, Tricia Parsons, Fay Green and Geoff Denham 37-4.
However, a top rink of 26-12 from Brian Cox, Sylvia Warrington, Jenny Ware and Tony Holt was not enough at Chessvale, where Chesham lost 128-72.
