Amersham’s Vi double

AMERSHAM Bowls Club ladies won both at home (26-14) and away (22-20) against Flackwell Heath in the Vi Trundell this week.
In the Burnham Plate, the ladies lost 19-16 at Chalfont St Giles away, but had already won the earlier home leg by a resounding 10 shots, and won on all three rinks to beat Chesham 62-30, with Pam Sawtell, May van Vuuren and Pat Barnard bagging top rink, 23-8.
Flackwell Heath gained their revenge for the Vi Trundell defeat with a 97-76 win in the Three Counties League match, where top rink for Amersham was Sheila Barber, Ian Lee, May van Vuuren and Howard Brown.
There was also a narrow 72-65 friendly loss to Hemel Hempstead (top rink John Culley, Elizabeth Gillott and Ted Choulerton) and a 107-52 reverse at Berkhamsted, where Amersham lost on all four rinks, with Culley, Gayle Berrington, Ray Cox and Anne Begley put up the stiffest resistance.
