Response to pub’s revamp is magical
Merlin's Cave opens after £1.2million makeover
A BELOVED village pub has finally opened its doors after weeks of anticipation following a £1.2 million investment.
The Merlin’s Cave, on the Village Green, Chalfont St Giles, held an official launch party on Thursday last week before opening to the public on Monday July 13. It has been closed since March to enable the new owners, Apostrophe Pubs, to carry out a complete refurbishment.
Two extensions have been built to make way for a large dining area and open kitchen, and more than 40 jobs have been created as a result of the development.
Managing partner Nick Hancock said: “We knew we had something really special in store for Chalfont St Giles that would really take people’s breath away, but even we were overwhelmed with the response. We have been absolutely packed and people are so enthusiastic about the look and feel, the food, drink and the service at The Merlin’s Cave. We had a couple of early issues with our electricity supply which are now resolved but other than that our preview events were a roaring success.
“On behalf of the team we’d like to thank everyone who has supported us and we’re really looking forward to meeting even more new customers and becoming a central part of the local community as we officially open the doors.”
Director at Apostrophe Pubs, Craig Mayes, said: “We want to offer our guests pubs with all the charm of a great community local but with an extraordinary and spectacular twist. For us it’s about creating a place for everyone to enjoy whether it’s for a Saturday night treat; a mid-week riverside catch up with
REFURB: The new look Merlin's Cave pub friends over a coffee; a place to gather the family on Sunday before heading out for a walk or somewhere for meetings with business colleagues. Nick and the team have done a fantastic job of bringing this vision to life at The Merlin’s Cave and we’re looking forward to a bright future for the pub.”
