Cy­cle suc­cess for Paris bound stu­dents

TWO VIL­LAGERS raised more than four thou­sand pounds for a lead­ing breast can­cer char­ity by cy­cling 250 miles in three days.

Ge­orge Hol­gate and Hal­isha Pa­tel, from Chal­font St Giles, com­pleted the Lon­don to Paris char­ity bike ride last week, for Breast Can­cer Now, av­er­ag­ing over 80 miles a day.

Mr Hol­gate was part­nered by Alex Green and were the only tan­dem team at the event. All three stu­dents had en­tered the chal­lenge as part of a Lough­bor­ough Univer­sity team.

They started their jour­ney from Rich­mond Park, Lon­don, be­fore go­ing though the South Downs with a fi­nal hill chal­lenge to Portsmouth, which was fol­lowed by an overnight ferry to Caen, France.

Day two was spent cy­cling through the small towns and vil­lages of Barc and Parville be­fore fin­ish­ing for the day at Evreux.
