New plan for Solar
PLANS for a high end furniture store to take over a vacant business described as an ‘eyesore’ have been welcomed.
Neptune, a furniture showroom, has applied to Chiltern District Council to redevelop Solar House in Amersham Road, Chesham.
The developer says: “The commitment by Neptune to Solar House will offer significant improvement to the townscape, at an important gateway to the town. It’ll also give their customers the opportunity to shop in Chesham, taking the chance to look around a town they might not have visited before.”
Solar House has been on the market for three years. The last application it attracted was from KFC, which wanted to demolish and replace it with the two-storey restaurant with a ‘drivethru.’ The application attracted negative comments from the public and so KFC withdrew the application. However, this new application has been welcomed with many people writing to Chiltern District Council to support it.
Chesham Town Council’s development control committee recently discussed the application and welcomed it.
The Chiltern Society’s Merrin Molesworth also wrote to Chiltern District Council supporting the application.
