Penn toppled from perch
LONG-TIME leaders Penn & Tylers Green slipped off top spot in Division One of the Chiltern Cricket League after losing their first game of the season on Saturday.
They went down by five wickets to Taplow for a first reverse in 11 games, despite an unbeaten knock of 41 from Simon Tattersall, but sit only a point behind new leaders Littlewick Green, in second place.
Elsewhere in Division One, Chalfont St Giles gained bragging rights over near-neighbours Denham with a crushing 147-run win. Chalfont bowled Denham out for a paltry 68 as Chris Cross (4-46) and Paresh Somani (5-22) – both making up for ducks at numbers one and 11 respectively as their side made 215 all out – shared the wickets.
Coleshill stayed top of Division Two as knocks of 83, from Daniel Stay, and 56, from Lee Skinner, helped them beat Hurley by six wickets, while James Evans took 4-10 which, along with scores of 66 and 54 from Charlie Etheridge and Benson D’Costa, saw Amersham Hill beat Pinkneys Green by 75 runs. The Lee went down by five wickets to Harpsden in Division Three, despite a century from James Atkins (138), while a stalemate between Winchmore Hill and Denham seconds, in Division Four, saw the latter replace the former at the top. Nas Ali bagged 126 while Mick Wilkins took 4-48 for the Hill.
