Floral award presented to popular village pub
A VILLAGE pub is celebrating after receiving an award for its horticultural displays.
The Rose and Crown in Stoke Poges has been handed the Most Colourful Pub award and given the JT Ireland Cup by the Stoke Poges, Wexham and Fulmer Horticultural Society.
Landlady Sarah Birchill was given the trophy by John Homan, president emeritus of the society in advance of the group’s annual show, which takes place on Saturday, July 25 at the Stoke Poges School.
The cup has been awarded each year since 1994 and is contested between seven pubs.
Mr Homan said: “The Rose and Crown display is magnificent and exceptionally colourful. Sarah has made an outstanding effort and the result is a wonderful and dazzling advertisement for the pub, a must see.”

The show will start at 12.30pm, with entrance costing £3 for adults and free entry for children. Parking will be available for free in the Stoke Poges Recreation Ground opposite the school.
