ORGANISING Little Hay Golf Club’s Captain’s Day on Saturday proved no handicap to Wayne Griffin.

Playing off the championship blue tees, Griffin showed not only can he administrate an occasion, but he is a dab hand with a golf club too, scoring 42 points under the Stableford system to win comfortably ahead of Gerry Clarke (39) with Nick Jefferson on 38.

Competition off the white tees was much closer with Jim Morris and club junior George Rocca finishing tied on 42 points, the former taking the honours on countback with Alan Christie (35) back in third.

The ladies’ competition was close too with Hee-Yung Crowhurst (41) winning by a point from Bobby Barnes with Dorcas Kidinger (38) close behind.

The previous Saturday, Crowhurst won the club’s qualifier for the England Golf Ping competition with a score of 43 points, in company with Trish Joslin.
