The duo arrived at the final end, leading by five shots, but with Roberts Matthews having lost heavily in the singles and the triples team of Simon Edwards, Claud Stimpson and John Newton only winning by a single shot, Park were trailing overall.

However, Page and Doddington got the three shots required to steal a 53-52 win.

Victory came just days after Ritchings climbed to the Thames Valley League summit after winning at Rosedale.

The trio of Colin Cawley, Jeff Jacobs and Bob Matthews led the way with a 21-15 win in their triples match.

The other triple was a much closer affair, but John Andrews, John Newton and Stimpson prevailed 14-12 to seal a 35-27 victory overall.

The result was in contrast to last Tuesday’s encounter with Wexham when Richings lost 8-4.5 in a match in a match consisting of two triples played both home and away.

John Norkett, Edwards and Doddington won 18-10 on home turf, but a draw and two losses in the other three games meant defeat overall.
