A FEEL good musical promises to leave audiences smiling when it comes to a Bucks theatre next month.

The musical Oklahoma! written by Rodgers & Hammerstein, will be performed at The Wycombe Swan theatre from Tuesday, August 4 until Saturday, August 8.

Gary Wilmot, who plays Ali Ha Kim in the production, said: “It is fantastic. We started the production around March, this is the last one.”

Well known songs in the famous production include Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’, I’m Just a Girl Who Cain’t Say No, Surrey With a Fringe on Top, Kansas City, People Will Say We’re in Love.

The actor used to live in Beaconsfield and now resides in the north of the county, Bletchley.

He added: “All of the songs are brilliant, it is full of songs that are well known. It is nice to be in a company with such a fun performance. I have never worked in a show with such an unbelievable level of talent.

“The show is about new relationships, new beginnings. The character I play is great and is very different to everyone else on the stage.”

It features a large cast of more than 25 people and chorus, as well as a live orchestra.

The musical tells the story of cowboy Curly McLain and his romance with farm girl Laurey Williams. Meanwhile, Ado Annie is torn between cowboy Will and peddler Ali Hakim.

The performance is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh and with choreography by Drew McOnie,

Gary added: “It is full of great tunes, terrific songs. I think people should come for a great night out and because there is nothing but rubbish on TV at the moment. I think that people should go and see live theatre at least once a week, it is important to use it.”
