Flood of visitors for leavers’ day
PUPILS, teachers and parents revelled in the last few days of term as a school held a Year Two leaving assembly and barbecue which exceeded expectations, after 150 people turned up.
Denham Village Infant School hosted the event on July 17 and children were presented with special gifts at the assembly before taking part in the barbecue.
Wendy Cope, chairman of the Friends of Denham Village Infant School (FODVIS), who helped to organise the event, said of the leaving barbecue: “It was brilliant, it was really good. Everybody turned up, and I think everybody really enjoyed it.”
She was shocked with the large turnout and said it made the day even more special.
“We have about 38 children so I expected about 70 people,” she said.
She added: “A lot more turned up than what I had expected.”
Despite describing the day as “pretty crazy,” Miss Cope was pleased with how the day went.
She said: “It went down really well. The fact that 150 people turned up was a statement in itself really.”
