Chesham fail to build on excellent results
First team only manage draw against league strugglers
THAMES VALLEY CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION ONE Eversley Chesham 251-8 206-7
Fortunately, Chris Hedges (62) and Dan Babula (24 no) hung on doggedly to add more than 80, leaving it to Umar Aslam to help see out the two remaining overs to finish on 206-7.
The seconds’ Division 2a promotion hopes were dealt a blow when skipper Matt Watson decided to bat first on a dodgylooking rain affected pitch, which proved to be a disastrous decision as his side slumped to 54 all out in 30 overs.
Chief destroyer was ex-Chesham seamer Tom Crick, who took 4-21 for Harefield seconds, who then crawled to a six-wicket win. Nevertheless, Chesham remain in second spot.
A weakened third team hung on to the lead in Division 5a despite losing to Chiswick and Whitton by 63 runs, despite Mo Asuaf taking 5-80, while a youthful fourth team beat Marlow by eight wickets, thanks largely to the bowling of James Franks.
Elsehere in the TVL, Beaconsfield had a losing draw against Falkland in Division One, while there were winning draws for Chenies & Latimer against Gerrards Cross seconds in Division 3b, and for Chalfont St Peter against Beaconsfield seconds in Division 4a.
