ANNIVERSARY MATCH: Chesham Bowls Club ladies with members of Bowls England; (right) Alan Cohn won the unbadged singles title on to the slender lead gained in the first leg, losing 150-92, despite a 24-20 win for the rink of Warrington, Green, George Fudge and Brian Wright.

This all followed the successful hosting of the county finals, in which Chesham produced both the men’s and women’s champions.

Alan Cohn won the unbadged singles title with a crushing 21-6 win over C Farrer from Denham BC – the second year running a Chesham bowler had taken the crown – while Avril Harland took the ladies singles without even having to bowl a wood after her opponent had to pull out through injury.

There was heartache though for the ladies triples team of Charlene Turpie, Terri Keen and Lin Wright, who suffered a dramatic extra end defeat to Marlow to lose 16-15, while there was disappointment too for Sue Faulks in the two-wood singles, as she lost 18-9 to Waddesdon’s Freya Spokes.
