LITTLE CHALFONT EVENING
WI July meeting
We had a lively July meeting with a good turn out inspite of the holiday season being in full swing and we were delighted to welcome another new member.
Denise, who had represented us at the Centenary Royal Garden Party, came dressed in her Buckingham Palace outfit complete with hat, and entertained us with a report of the day.
She had had a marvellous time and felt very lucky to have been able to attend such a memorable occasion.
Everyone had enjoyed our Midsummer Pudding Night and we are now all looking forward to our annual summer lunch which is held instead of a meeting in August.
We have made a start on a new storysack which, when completed, will be donated to St George’s School, and our craft group continues to be busy with patchwork, knitting, crochet and all the preparations for our Yarn Bombing and Publicity day which will be held on Saturday, September 12.
We are having a walk along the Colne Valley at the end of July, and a Centenary Tea in September so there are lots of things to join in with.
Our speaker for the evening, Peter Hague, gave us an excellent and entertaining talk on the history of West Wycombe and the Dashwood family.
If you are interested in joining us, do have a look at our Facebook page at Facebook.com/ littlechalfonteveningwi or come and visit us.
Our next meeting is on Tuesday September 8 at 7.45pm in Little Chalfont Village Hall, Cokes Lane when we will hear all about the WI’s own education college, Denman College in Oxfordshire.
