M40 hit with se­ries of ac­ci­dents

A SE­RIES of ac­ci­dents have blighted the M40 dur­ing the last week.

An ac­ci­dent on the M40 be­tween Bea­cons­field and High Wy­combe caused tail­backs yesterday (Wed­nes­day) morn­ing.

One lane was closed af­ter the in­ci­dent on the north­bound stretch of the mo­tor­way be­tween junction two, the A355, and junction three, the A40. Long queues on the A40 be­gan at the Den­ham round­about and stretched all the way into Lon­don.

On Tues­day, po­lice and fire crews and the air am­bu­lance were at the scene of an over­turned car af­ter an ac­ci­dent be­fore 9am be­tween junction 1a and junction two. One per­son had to be res­cued from the ve­hi­cle.

On Satur­day there were long de­lays af­ter a lorry fire on the north­bound car­riage­way be­tween junc­tions three and four.

The in­ci­dent caused con­ges­tion on the A40 and the A404 in ad­di­tion to the mo­tor­way traf­fic.
