THE way we talk, write and treat refugees makes me very sad.

Just af­ter the war, when I was nine years old and liv­ing with my par­ents in a small vil­lage in Aus­tria, lots of refugees came daily through our vil­lage and this went on for months.

Be­ing only small farm­ers, we had very lit­tle our­selves but I can not re­call a house in our vil­lage that did
