Walking 30 for 30
Join anniversary walk and wheel for MS centre
FUNDRAISERS will be walking and wheeling 30 miles to celebrate the Chilterns MS Centre’s 30th anniversary.
The centre provides a range of therapies for people with sclerorsis living Buckinghamshire Hertfordshire.
There will be 30 walks in different locations of 30 miles each. On Saturday September 5, the Amersham mile will start at 11am at Tesco in the old town.
Trustee of the charity, Linda Oatley, said: “The charity is a real lifeline to so many people like myself with MS. I have been training since the start of the year and plan to walk or wheel every mile.”
This ambitious fundraising initiative will not only raise vital funds for the centre but also increase awareness of what they do.
It helps more than 300 people each week manage their multiple sclerosis symptoms by providing services such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and acupuncture. Users of the centre also discover new friends and share in the support that meeting people with similar experiences offers.
Chief executive of the multiple across
Linda Oatley and Sarah McCready, who have MS, are planning to walk and wheel for the Chilterns MS Centre centre, Robert Breakwell, said: “The centre is proud to have been helping people with MS for three decades now. The range of treatments has expanded considerably over this time, so too the number of people we are able to treat. “All of this is only made possible through fundraising and donations.
“We are now one of the leading MS therapy centres in the country and we hope that the community will really get behind their local MS mile and help us meet our fundraising target of £30,000 – it would be the best anniversary present we could wish for.”
You can join this walk by registering for free at www.chilternsmscentre. org. If this date doesn’t suit there are others to choose from such as in Chesham, Great Missenden and Chalfont St Peter.
