Help make vil­lage fair the best yet

THE ‘BIG­GEST event of the year’ will be tak­ing place in Chal­font St Giles this week­end.

From 11.30am on Satu­day Septem­ber 5, the Chal­font St Giles Vil­lage Show will be en­ter­tain­ing hordes of peo­ple as they take part in a range ac­tiv­i­ties.

This year’s theme is The World of Sport, and star at­trac­tions in­clude The Devil’s Horse­men – with dis­plays of horse­man­ship in­clud­ing char­iot races – The Fal­conry Cen­tre which fea­tures birds of prey fly­ing at speeds of over 40mph, The Flam­ing High Show and sheep­dog demon­stra­tions.

Com­pe­ti­tions will be run­ning through­out the day, with win­ners cat­e­gories in­clud­ing flo­ral art, craft, fruit and veg­eta­bles, cook­ery, pho­tog­ra­phy and art classes, in both adult and ju­nior cat­e­gories.

More than 5,000 peo­ple are ex­pected to at­tend the huge vil­lage event on Cameron Farm, Nar­cot Lane, and prof­its go to lo­cal char­i­ties, last year see­ing about £11,000 go to good causes.

Vol­un­teers how­ever are still needed to help make this event the best yet – peo­ple are wanted to help the cleanup and or­gan­i­sa­tion – visit www. cs­gshow.org for de­tails.
