Paul Langley then stead­ied the ship with Bow­cock and the pair took the score to 97 with less than half the overs bowled.

There­after, Amer­sham’s bats­men con­trived to get them­selves out, all caught to in­ju­di­cious shots, ex­cept for An­drew Viney, who was run out go­ing for a sec­ond run from a su­perb throw from the bound­ary.

The win saw Fin­champ­stead re­place Amer­sham in sec­ond place with Ger­rards Cross fourth – all play­ing for one pro­mo­tion spot in the fi­nal games as lead­ers Great & Lit­tle Tew are ef­fec­tively al­ready pro­moted.

Amer­sham visit Cove, who need to win to avoid rel­e­ga­tion, while Fin­champ­stead host Datchet and Ger­rards Cross host As­ton Rowant, who are also not safe from rel­e­ga­tion.

Else­where, David Atkin­son took 4-41 while Nick Nguyen was un­beaten on 72 as Amer­sham sec­onds beat Teddington Town by seven wick­ets to keep their pro­mo­tion hopes alive in Thames Val­ley League Di­vi­sion 3b, but the thirds went down by 34 runs to Mar­low sec­onds.
