Amersham stumble in battle for second spot
Three teams fighting to join promoted Great & Little Tew
HOME COUNTIES PREMIER CRICKET LEAGUE Finchampstead Amersham 204 all out 159 all out was just beginning to blossom when he was stumped after failing to ensure his foot was behind the line. Paul Langley then steadied the ship with Bowcock and the pair took the score to 97 with less than half the overs bowled.
Thereafter, Amersham’s batsmen contrived to get themselves out, all caught to injudicious shots, except for Andrew Viney, who was run out going for a second run from a superb throw from the boundary.
The win saw Finchampstead replace Amersham in second place with Gerrards Cross fourth – all playing for one promotion spot in the final games as leaders Great & Little Tew are effectively already promoted.
Amersham visit Cove, who need to win to avoid relegation, while Finchampstead host Datchet and Gerrards Cross host Aston Rowant, who are also not safe from relegation.
Elsewhere, David Atkinson took 4-41 while Nick Nguyen was unbeaten on 72 as Amersham seconds beat Teddington Town by seven wickets to keep their promotion hopes alive in Thames Valley League Division 3b, but the thirds went down by 34 runs to Marlow seconds.
