Mackenzie takes five to slow down Taplow
CHILTERN CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION TWO Amersham Hill 203-8 Taplow IIs 182-7
GREG Mackenzie took 5-49 to halt Taplow seconds’ run chase and ensure honours finished even with Amersham Hill on Saturday.
After being put into bat, Amersham struggled to get going and were soon 8-2 as captain Chris Fletcher (2) was out lbw, and soon after Mackenzie (3) was run out after a catastrophic mix up with Rob Leybourne.
At this stage, Amersham were in big trouble as both Mackenzie and Fletcher have been the leading scorers this season. However, a 102-run partnership between Leybourne (48) and James Evans (47) led their recovery.
Quick fire runs by Jordan Richardson-Hill (17), Peter Collins (21), Benson D’Costa (27), and Anurag Abinashi (19) helped them achieve maximum batting points, eventually finishing on 203-8.
Taplow began their run chase well as they put on 101 runs for the first wicket, but after the seamers failed to make a breakthrough, Mackenzie (5-49) and Abinashi (2-14) were brought on to halt the tide.
Between them, they shared seven wickets for 63 runs to earn Amersham a draw.
Long-time Division Two leaders Coleshill were replaced at the top by Pinkneys Green with one game left after losing to them by 35 runs.
Amersham’s seconds conceded to Winchmore Hill in Division Four, while The Lee lost by seven wickets to Chalfont St Giles seconds in Division Three.
In Division One, Denham beat Great Kingshill by four wickets, while Chalfont St Giles lost by five wickets to Taplow, and Penn & Tylers Green went down by 56 runs to Littlewick Green.
