Macken­zie takes five to slow down Taplow

GREG Macken­zie took 5-49 to halt Taplow sec­onds’ run chase and en­sure hon­ours fin­ished even with Amer­sham Hill on Satur­day.

Af­ter be­ing put into bat, Amer­sham strug­gled to get go­ing and were soon 8-2 as cap­tain Chris Fletcher (2) was out lbw, and soon af­ter Macken­zie (3) was run out af­ter a cat­a­strophic mix up with Rob Ley­bourne.

At this stage, Amer­sham were in big trou­ble as both Macken­zie and Fletcher have been the lead­ing scor­ers this sea­son. How­ever, a 102-run part­ner­ship be­tween Ley­bourne (48) and James Evans (47) led their re­cov­ery.

Quick fire runs by Jor­dan Richard­son-Hill (17), Peter Collins (21), Ben­son D’Costa (27), and Anurag Abi­nashi (19) helped them achieve max­i­mum bat­ting points, even­tu­ally fin­ish­ing on 203-8.

Taplow be­gan their run chase well as they put on 101 runs for the first wicket, but af­ter the seam­ers failed to make a break­through, Macken­zie (5-49) and Abi­nashi (2-14) were brought on to halt the tide.

Be­tween them, they shared seven wick­ets for 63 runs to earn Amer­sham a draw.

Long-time Di­vi­sion Two lead­ers Coleshill were re­placed at the top by Pinkneys Green with one game left af­ter los­ing to them by 35 runs.

Amer­sham’s sec­onds con­ceded to Winch­more Hill in Di­vi­sion Four, while The Lee lost by seven wick­ets to Chal­font St Giles sec­onds in Di­vi­sion Three.

In Di­vi­sion One, Den­ham beat Great King­shill by four wick­ets, while Chal­font St Giles lost by five wick­ets to Taplow, and Penn & Tylers Green went down by 56 runs to Lit­tlewick Green.
