Hun­dreds of rub­ber ducks will race their way along a river to raise cash for char­ity this week­end. Che­sham Youth Club will hold its an­nual duck race on Satur­day from 3pm. The race starts at the Town Bridge off Ger­main Street. It costs £1 per duck and the top prize is £100. Ducks are avail­able from lo­cal pubs, Che­sham Youth Club or Ali­son Pirouet on 01494 571 018 or al­ison­pirouet@gmail.com.

St Mary’s Church, in Church Street, Che­sham, is hold­ing an open af­ter­noon on Sun­day, Septem­ber 13 from 2pm to 5pm as part of the Her­itage Open Days across Eng­land. There will be tours of the church, ac­cess to the bel­fry and the church reg­is­ters will be open to pe­ruse. New at­trac­tions will be demon­stra­tions of the history shown by the tomb­stones and a look at the graf­fiti in the church. Tea and cakes will be avail­able.

Che­sham and Dis­trict Nat­u­ral History So­ci­ety will host a talk this month. Steve Carter will give an il­lus­trated talk called Bird­watch­ing in the Colne Val­ley on Mon­day, Septem­ber 14 at St Mary’s Church Rooms in Church Street on Mon­day, Septem­ber 14.
