Maddy’s ‘living the dream’ in Sleeping Beauty

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

A GIFTED dancer has landed a role in a professional production of Sleeping Beauty.

Maddy Weir, 14, of Chesham, is in rehearsals for a production of the ballet. The Aylesbury High School student is training with the English Youth Ballet for the performance, which will run from October 15 to 17.

English Youth Ballet dance coach Amy Drew said: “The young dancers are treated like professional dancers during rehearsals – we work them hard, but the results are fantastic!

“They learn what the life of a professional dancer is like. They are living their dream and they just love it.

“It is wonderful having such talented young people all in the same place and working together.

“I think that there is a unique and wonderful synergy that takes place because all the dancers learn so much from watching each other and from watching the professionals.”

The performance will be held in the Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage.
