Walk a mile to raise awareness

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

Amanda Lamont AMERSHAM mayor walked the MS mile for the Chiltern MS Centre.

Councillor Amanda Lamont joined other walkers and wheelers on the sponsored walk on Saturday, September 5.

Walking alongside the mayor was Carol Yeend from Amersham who was diagnosed with MS in 1988 and is one of more than 440 members who benefit from the services offered by the centre.

Carol said: “I took part in Walk the MS Mile because I feel it is something I can do, and enjoy doing, to help the centre raise awareness and funds. I have become increasingly aware of the importance of the centre in so many lives and in so many ways. I used to walk a lot, I think it’s about time I reminded my legs what they are supposed to do and raise some money while doing it.”

Walk the MS mile is the flagship event of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Chilterns MS Centre, which helps patients manage their Multiple Sclerosis (MS) symptoms. Thirty walks of one mile each are being held on each day this month across Bucks and beyond.
