Great Wall trek in mem­ory of dad

A WOMAN who ad­mits that the Maryle­bone es­ca­la­tor in Lon­don is a chal­lenge for her is hop­ing to raise £12,000 for a lead­ing can­cer char­ity by trekking the Great Wall of China in Oc­to­ber.

Jo Sw­er­ling, who lives near Bea­cons­field, is tak­ing part in the chal­lenge in mem­ory of her fa­ther Graham who passed away on Christ­mas Eve 2013 fol­low­ing a di­ag­no­sis of pan­cre­atic can­cer two months ear­lier.

Mr Sw­er­ling was a lo­cal farmer who, along with his wife, farmed in Coleshill and Chal­font St Giles for 55 years.

Jo will be walk­ing the wall for five days on Oc­to­ber 17 along with 20 oth­ers, rais­ing money for Pan­cre­atic Can­cer UK.

She has al­ready raised £8.5K at a barn dance that she or­gan­ised held at the fam­ily farm in July and has been in train­ing since April, joined a lo­cal gym and has been seen run­ning up and down stairs when­ever she can. Please visit www.just­giv­ joswer­ling for more in­for­ma­tion.
