Grand job at charity art show

Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

MORE than £1,000 was raised for a church charity this weekend despite the poor weather.

St Mary’s Church, in Ashmead Lane, Denham, held a two-day art show featuring local artists.

The event also included a tombola, bric a brac and ‘homemade’ stalls.

Organisers were pleased with the amount raised and were happy that most of the stalls sold out of goods.

Wendy Cope, who was manning the homemade stall, said the event went well.

“I think everybody there enjoyed it,” she said.

“The art exhibition went well.”

Visitors also enjoyed guessing the weight of a cake – which weighed in at two pounds and six ounces – and the competition to win a teddy bear.

The event was a festival for the church’s patron saint, St Mary, with proceeds going towards the upkeep of the church.
