Shrek-tacular way to spend the summer

SUCCESS: Milton Keynes Theatre summer school SUMMER 2015 has been a whole lot brighter and more fun than it might otherwise have been for 17 local children, aged between six and 10 years of age.

You could even say that it’s been a ‘Shrektacular’ success.

Thanks to the University of Bedfordshire, which sponsored all the places, the children took part in a five-day course themed around this summer’s monster of a show at Milton Keynes Theatre, Shrek The Musical!

The children spent the Discover and Explore week doing... just that.

They explored backstage, to see what really goes on behind the scenes and they discovered the fun of taking part in art and drama-based activities, all the while working towards gaining an Arts Award.

By collecting and recording their arts experiences in a log as they went through the week, they were able to build up a portfolio that demonstrated their creativity and led to them gaining a recognised award.

And, if that wasn’t entertainment enough, the kids joined the audience to watch a matinee performance of Shrek, the biggest, brightest musical comedy around.
