SILVERWARE: All the winners from Amersham Bowls Club’s Finals Day overcame the challenge of Keith Leonard and Joy Spicer in the mixed pairs final, while Jim Saunders emerged as winner in the men’s championship final against Kevin Dwyer.

Finally, the men’s novices and handicap were won by Robin Eddy and David Balderson respectively, with wins over Dave Plaskett and John Barber in the finals.

In the run up to finals day, Amersham’s ladies narrowly beat Gerrards Cross 50-44, with a top rink coming from Barnard, Marian Hext and Elizabeth Gillott.

There was a far more comprehensive win for the men against Hazells, which was shortened to 10 ends due to rain, but Amersham won on four rinks and lost on one for an overall 5529 victory, with Culley, Wills and Sherlock the top rink.
