Davis fam­ily to open KnotFest

WAR­WICK Davis is to of­fi­cially open this year’s KnotFest at The Red Lion in Knotty Green.

The ac­tor who has starred in block­busters like the Star Wars and Harry Pot­ter fran­chises will be joined by his wife Sammy, daugh­ter Annabelle and son Har­ri­son to of­fi­cially open the event on Satur­day Septem­ber 19.

And, in ad­di­tion to rais­ing money for the Thames Val­ley Ad­ven­ture Play­ground for chil­dren with spe­cial needs, pro­ceeds from this year’s KnotFest will also go to Lit­tle Peo­ple UK, a char­ity co-founded by the Davis fam­ily.

War­wick, who hosts ITV’s Celebrity Squares, said: “We are all re­ally look­ing for­ward to it and to meet­ing ev­ery­one. We might even join in with the mu­sic.”

The three-day fes­ti­val kicks off at The Red Lion at 9pm on Fri­day Septem­ber 18 but will be of­fi­cially opened by War­wick and the Davis fam­ily the fol­low­ing day be­tweeen 2pm and 3pm.

Or­gan­iser Bob Massie joked: “We’re a bit like the Olympics, we start the ball rolling first and then have an of­fi­cial open­ing cer­e­mony.”

He added: “I am ab­so­lutely chuffed that War­wick and his fam­ily have agreed to come and open KnotFest this year. It’s not of­ten you can say you have a Hol­ly­wood su­per­star open­ing the event.

“And we are de­lighted to be rais­ing money for Lit­tle Peo­ple UK in ad­di­tion to the Thames Val­ley Ad­ven­ture Play­ground.”

Land­lady Tina Massie, who re­cently won a Great Bri­tish Pub award for the best com­mu­nity pub in Lon­don and the South East, said: “We’re ab­so­lutely thrilled that War­wick, Sammy, Annabelle and Har­ri­son have so kindly agreed to open the fes­ti­val.

“When I heard the news I shrieked down the phone I was so happy.”

KnotFest will take place at The Red Lion, Knotty Green, from Fri­day Septem­ber 18 un­til Sun­day Septem­ber 20 and prom­ises a fab­u­lous line-up of mu­sic over the three days . ON Satur­day Septem­ber 26, Royal Wind­sor Race­course will welcome Cbee­bies pre­sen­ter Alex Win­ters when it plays host to a fun-filled in­flat­able 5k char­ity event from cre­ators, Gung-Ho.

The Gung-Ho 5k run has added chal­lenges from gi­ant sized in­flat­able ob­sta­cles such as beach balls, bouncy cas­tles and the ‘Thriller’ slide which stands an im­pres­sive 48 foot tall.

The course will start with an in­flat­able hill fol­lowed by a gi­ant ball pit, foam pit, climb­ing wall and more, be­fore fin­ish­ing slid­ing down ‘Thriller’.

The Wind­sor event will have a reg­is­tra­tion limit of 5,000 par­tic­i­pants and will also in­clude a va­ri­ety of food and drink stalls as well as live DJs to en­ter­tain the crowds.
