Davis family to open KnotFest
WARWICK Davis is to officially open this year’s KnotFest at The Red Lion in Knotty Green.
The actor who has starred in blockbusters like the Star Wars and Harry Potter franchises will be joined by his wife Sammy, daughter Annabelle and son Harrison to officially open the event on Saturday September 19.
And, in addition to raising money for the Thames Valley Adventure Playground for children with special needs, proceeds from this year’s KnotFest will also go to Little People UK, a charity co-founded by the Davis family.
Warwick, who hosts ITV’s Celebrity Squares, said: “We are all really looking forward to it and to meeting everyone. We might even join in with the music.”
The three-day festival kicks off at The Red Lion at 9pm on Friday September 18 but will be officially opened by Warwick and the Davis family the following day betweeen 2pm and 3pm.
Organiser Bob Massie joked: “We’re a bit like the Olympics, we start the ball rolling first and then have an official opening ceremony.”
He added: “I am absolutely chuffed that Warwick and his family have agreed to come and open KnotFest this year. It’s not often you can say you have a Hollywood superstar opening the event.
“And we are delighted to be raising money for Little People UK in addition to the Thames Valley Adventure Playground.”
Landlady Tina Massie, who recently won a Great British Pub award for the best community pub in London and the South East, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Warwick, Sammy, Annabelle and Harrison have so kindly agreed to open the festival.
“When I heard the news I shrieked down the phone I was so happy.”
KnotFest will take place at The Red Lion, Knotty Green, from Friday September 18 until Sunday September 20 and promises a fabulous line-up of music over the three days . ON Saturday September 26, Royal Windsor Racecourse will welcome Cbeebies presenter Alex Winters when it plays host to a fun-filled inflatable 5k charity event from creators, Gung-Ho.
The Gung-Ho 5k run has added challenges from giant sized inflatable obstacles such as beach balls, bouncy castles and the ‘Thriller’ slide which stands an impressive 48 foot tall.
The course will start with an inflatable hill followed by a giant ball pit, foam pit, climbing wall and more, before finishing sliding down ‘Thriller’.
The Windsor event will have a registration limit of 5,000 participants and will also include a variety of food and drink stalls as well as live DJs to entertain the crowds.
