DETERMINATION was the key to a college learner’s success.

Hannah Cooper was highy commended in the Amersham and Wycombe College student of the year awards.

The annual awards celebrates the achievements of college students, regardless of their age, course or level of study.

In total, 82 nominations were received and the judges were impressed to read about Hannah’s determination and success as the managing director of a college-run business and felt this needed to be recognised.

President of the Association of Colleges, John Widdowson, who led the judging panel, said: “As a college principal, I know that students across the country are committed to working hard to achieve success. Hannah has shown the positive impact further education can have and is a true inspiration.”

Gill Brownell, course tutor, said: “Hannah is on the autistic spectrum disorder and has specific learning difficulties, but working with her now it’s very hard to believe she is the same young girl who joined us in September 2014.

“At the Young Enterprise Chiltern Areas Board Company Finals, Hannah led the team to a very successful outcome and gave a presentation with others about their company to 70 people.”
