SKILLED illustration student’s ‘eye-catching’ work to be displayed in the West End.

Former Chesham Grammar School student, Sarah Inkpen, was one of the two winners of a competition for her work to be exhibited at The Leicester Square Theatre from September 24 to October 17.

The students created artwork for Conor McPherson’s The Birds, based on the Daphne de Maurier book. The book is set in a world where society has collapsed and the birds attack humans at every opportunity.

Ms Inkpen, who lives in Amersham, wanted to convey the threat of the birds while keeping the design simple enough for a poster format.

The images the winners have been combined by graphic artist Paul Pierce-Couch to make a special poster that will be seen in print at Leicester Square Theatre.
