Sharing passion for the power of singing
New group set up for young children and mums
IF YOU’RE going down to the woods today, you might not find any bears.
Instead, Teddies Music Club has started a new singing class for young children to enjoy in Chalfont St Peter.
A club for which has been running in the south east – predominantly Berkshire – for the past 23 years, the founders believe in the power of singing in the helping with the development of young brains, saying the benefits are ‘huge’ for youngsters.
“We’re just passionate about live music for children and how important it is for their development,” said Claire Ross-Masson, one of the founders.
is an amazing effect singing has on the young brain. It’s amazing the amount of benefits that singing has for smaller children,” she added.
Along with this, Claire said that her classes, which she runs along with her partner Zita Newcome – the pair own the business together – are unique in that they encourage a fully interactive environment.
She said: “With this the parents really interact with the children which we find is really important for them and makes a really dynamic singing group.”
“It is also important, she said, that they offer somewhere for new parents and young families to meet new friends and make new connections with others in the area.
She said: “It’s a chance for people who have just had babies to get out and meet new people.”
Originally they had intended to have classes in London but had to reconsider after they realised the logistics of travelling along the M25 in the morning.
However, describing the village as ‘somewhere lovely’, the pair are looking forward to continuing their classes for as long as they can.
Claire said: “As long as the group builds to a good size, we’ll stay for as long as anybody wants us to be there.”
The first class in the village was on September 8 – classes will be every Tuesday from 10am onwards at Chalfont St Peter Parish Church Hall, Church Lane, for children aged up to five-years-old.
