Here’s to church’s next 10 years

Cel­e­bra­tion and barn dance for Rock’s decade

THE ROCK Church in Chal­font St Giles has been cel­e­brat­ing a decade of com­mu­nity in­volve­ment, cul­mi­nat­ing in a barn dance on Satur­day and a spe­cial ser­vice of cel­e­bra­tion on Sun­day.

Rev­erend Thorpe said the week­end events went well and a com­bined to­tal of about 100 peo­ple en­joyed

Ian them­selves. He said: “It all went well. Ev­ery­body had a lovely time at the barn dance.

“We had a lot of peo­ple who had en­gage­ment with in the com­mu­nity who aren’t nec­es­sar­ily church go­ers.”




JOY: Rev Ian Thorpe takes part in a ser­vice to celebrate the 10th birth­day of The Rock Church cel­e­bra­tion ser­vice, he said: “We had a re­ally good time with some of our older friends and peo­ple who had moved away, who came back to celebrate with us on Sun­day. We had a lovely time.”

He added: “It in­volved lis­ten­ing to peo­ple’s sto­ries, and how they had been im­pacted by us as a church.

“It was re­ally en­cour­ag­ing how a smaller church has im­pacted peo­ple and al­ways in a very pos­i­tive way.”

He added: “There were var­i­ous com­ments that came back from peo­ple about how they had gone away and they re­alised how pre­cious their time with us was over the years.”

“We’re look­ing for­ward to the next 10 years,” he said.
