Go on a purple patch in hospice fundraiser
Colourful day lined up to boost charity donations
A HOSPICE is calling on people to ‘Go Purple’ next month to help raise cash for the charity.
The Hospice of St Francis will celebrate Hospice Care Week on Friday, October 9.
How people decide to Go Purple is up to them.
They could wear something purple, bake purple iced cakes and host a coffee morning or be creative and organise their own purple-themed fundraising activity – anything from sitting in a bath of purple gloop or turning their hair a delicate shade of mauve.
The aim is to make purple the colour of the day and help the hospice turn purple into pounds.
The hospice is calling on everyone, including school children, work colleagues, local businesses, the retired and mums and dads, to get inspired and get involved.
Community fundraiser at the hospice Sarah Ajder said: “Go Purple is going to be fun! It can be as easy as popping the kettle on for a few friends or wearing purple lipstick for the day and donating a few pounds to the hospice.
“It’s also a great excuse for work colleagues to band together and hold a bake-off competition, or for local businesses to support us by organising a purple themed promotion.
“Whatever you do to Go Purple, all we ask if that you have a laugh in the process and help us raise money to fund our special care.
“By doing something purple, you will show your support for our dedicated team of nurses and medical staff who care for patients with a life-limiting illness, and their families, who need support here at the hospice, at home or in a care home.
“Mauve, violet, lavender or lilac, there are many shades of purple and many ways you can support Go Purple!
“What will you do on October 9 to show you care?”
