Kendall’s double joy at annual finals day
THERE was double delight for Mary Kendall at the Chalfont St Peter Tennis Club annual finals day on Saturday.
Kendall, a long-standing club member, was drawn with Pete Fisher in the vets doubles final, and also with Pete’s son, Tom, in the mixed doubles final – with both matches ending in two-set victories.
She also reached the final of the ladies doubles with partner Christine Bolton, but this proved to be a step too far as her opponents, Alison Wiliams and Cheryl Rezek, this time took a two-set victory.
Therese Cooklin won the ladies singles for the second year running and Will Lade took the men’s title,
(Left) Tom Fisher and Mary Kendall and (right) Mary with Peter Fisher while Nick Trigg and Gary Bunney were triumphant in the men’s doubles.
They saw off last year’s winner, James Fialho, and his new partner Pete Spence, who was also on the losing side in the mixed doubles.
The day was the culmination of a tournament which began in May and ran throughout the summer, ending in six finals. For more information on the club, visit www. chalfontstpetertennisclub.co.uk.
