Buckinghamshire Advertiser - - LIFE & LEISIRE -

THIS year’s panto at Aylesbury’s Waterside Theatre will certainly have the x-factor featuring a former winner and a finalist. Winner of the 2013 X Factor series Sam Bailey will be taking on the role of Fairy Bowbells and making her pantomime debut in this year’s festive family production, Dick Whittington, from December 11 to January 3.

Sam wowed the X Factor judges and the nation with her powerhouse of a voice in 2013 with Gary Barlow calling her voice ‘incredible’ and Nicole Scherzinger saying ‘Sam Bailey, everybody remember that name’.

Sam won the competition after receiving the large majority of the votes. Her debut single Skyscraper was released the following Monday and went straight to the top of the charts, making it the Christmas number one. She has since supported Beyoncé on her UK tour, had her own number one album, live tour and released an autobiography.

Sam said: ‘I am so excited to be appearing in pantomime for the first time. I love performing in front of a live audience and to see people of all ages having a wonderful time over Christmas is going to be brilliant.

“I know my kids will love seeing their mummy dressed up in the sparkly costume, and I can’t wait to try my fairy wings on.’

Sam will be joined by Buckinghamshire’s very own funny man and comic panto king, Andy Collins playing Idle Jack, and returning due to popular demand for what will be his fifth year, and finally, playing panto baddie, Queen Rat, will be X Factor 2013 finalist Melanie Masson

Dick Whittington, which is being brought to the stage by First Family Entertainment, tells the rags to riches tale of a young man and his cat on an exciting quest for fame and fortune. Featuring all the traditional pantomime ingredients; sensational songs, a live band, dazzling dance routines, slapstick comedy and bags of audience participation – Dick Whittington is guaranteed to be full of wonder to delight audiences of all ages.

Tickets are available to book from the box office on 0844 871 7607 or visitgtickbury.
