Vil­lage life is good as store is trans­formed by £130k makeover

Im­prove­ments at Olde Post House are pop­u­lar

THE OLDE Post House in Chal­font St Giles has had £130,000 re­vamp to im­prove the ser­vice to vil­lagers.

San­jay Pa­tel, 40, who took over the run­ning of the store in March this year, said it had been about 35 years since the store last had a re­fur­bish­ment.

Mr Pa­tel, who trav­els to the shop from his home in Wem­b­ley, Lon­don, said the re­furb took around one month to com­plete.

He said: “I want to give the cus­tomers bet­ter ser­vices and bet­ter en­ter­tain­ment.”

Mr Pa­tel had been look­ing for a shop for about five or six years be­fore he found the one in Chal­font St Giles.

He added: “It was my dream to buy a shop in the vil­lage and to make a nice vil­lage shop.”

The whole con­cept of the re­fur­bish­ment, Mr Pa­tel said, was to al­low peo­ple who could not easily get to a su­per­mar­ket to come in and do a week's shop­ping in his store. Mr Pa­tel, who ad­mits he is ‘very new to the vil­lage' is full of praise for the friendly Chal­font St Giles com­mu­nity, that was one of the main at­trac­tions for him in buy­ing the Post House.
